Loved the country and especially the people. A word of caution in asking for directions: the Irish seem to have difficulty in distinguishing between their left and their right so if they tap their right arm while directing you, but say left, it actually means right - actions speak louder than words!

Stay well away from the Irish if you want a quiet holiday - and definitely stay out of the pubs! Once you're in there you suddenly have hundreds of new friends who won't take no for an answer to another pint or wanting to go home early. Don't say you haven't been warned...

Had a wonderful time in Ireland. Did a tour of the east coast and Antrim and it was spectacular. From Dublin Airport we stayed in Slane at Conyngham Arms Hotel and it was a treasure. Gorgeous four poster rooms, old style hotel and plenty to see in the area including Newgrange, Dowth, site from the Battle of the Boyne, Slane Castle. From there we went to Carlingford and it was breathtaking. Stayed in Jordans on the front and there were plenty of places to eat with tasty food. From there to Antrin to Thor Head and you could see scotland from there. Stunning countryside and many walks. Warm coat required!!!! Tour Operator: My Travel

I've just been to Dublin and had a great time I stayed in the temple bar area which is good but if you're there for the shopping you need to be near grafton street. I took a day out and went on the Dublin tour bus which stops at various locations including all the churches and cathedrals, the Guinness storehouse where you get a FREE pint(I suggest a dash of blackcurrant) and the Jamesons distillery (again a free drink is included!!). Travelled over on the "fast ferry" to Dun Laoghaire, which only takes 90 mins and has lots of facilities on board. travelling in to Dublin from the port takes about 30 mins with Irish traffic! Depending on what type of holiday you are looking for if its bars and nightlife head for temple bar and get ready to sample the "craic" , if its quiet with sightseeing you're after head for the outskirts of the city to one of the Jurys hotels. With the new motorway in Ireland you can access both the North and the South of Ireland very easily. Tour Operator: Stena Line

Not impressed......Pubs too many...The irish folk spend most of their time in pubs....no work unemployment high. Not appealing to be compared to my other travel destinations. Enjoy old buildings, museums, castles and a pint, this is the place for you....very dissapointed...will never return.

You'll find what you look for -- music in my case. McGinley's, An Grinnan Theater in Letterkenny, Roisin Dubh and Tigh Ceoli in Galway, Vicar Street and Cobblestone in Dublin, An CulturLann in Belfast, most recommended, for trad as well as current songwriter performances. But the landscape sings, as well, if you'll listen.

Ireland was magical! We spent 3 weeks, driving around the country (except for Northern Ireland), spending 2-3 days in various places. We traveled in October, after the main summer tourists, which was far more comfortable than dealing with crowds. The people were marvellous, the historical sites remarkable, pubs and music fun, and the countryside so beautiful. Most of all, though, we think about the warm-hearted people we encountered throughout the land.

We spent a week in Dublin and toured the city (mainly by foot) and surrounding area. We took a day tour to Malahyde Castle, a beautiful train ride with an entertaining guide. The hills are beautiful and the city has a lot to offer as well. Guiness factory, writers museum, pubs, and lots more that we didn't have time to see. If you go to Ireland you may notice a strong sense of pride in the people there both in their country and in their heritage. You almost feel bad for not being Irish. I will see more on my next trip there. I do recommend this trip to anyone. Beware the Euro conversion rate and where you get your money exchanged, though....ENJOY! Tour Operator: On Our Own
